In this dramatic scene, a badly damaged B-24D Liberator over Wewak in the South Pacific, is captured moments before its end, with the loss of all crew. December 1943.

Stirling at Dusk
An atmospheric scene of Short Stirling BK644, on a 'gardening' mission in Feb. 1943. Sadly the aircraft was lost in action with all 8 crew.

Avro Lancaster Night Raid
Against all odds, F/LT Rogers and his crew survived to tell the events of their night raid over Potsdam, Germany, April 14, 1945, with a badly damaged aircraft and fumes in the fuel tanks, they returned to base after an 8 hour 35 min. flight.

Attack from above!
September 25, 1917 - Flying on patrol, two RAF RE.8 biplane fighters attack a lone Ottoman Halberstadt DV over Mesopotamia. RE.8 A4334 losing the outer sections of the upper wing, as they broke off in a fast, steep dive. Pilot Lt Malcolm Begg, made a successful emergency landing, only to be captured by the enemy. He survived the war.

Fighter pilot Thomas McGuire flying 'PUDGY', a Lockheed P-38 H Lightning over Wewak, August 29th, 1943, claims a Ki-43 Oscar, one of two Japanese aircraft on that day.

Victory over Burma
On Boxing Day, 1943, Bob Cross flying a Spitfire Mk Vc (MA388) of 136 Sqdn, claims one of two Ki-43's for the day. Cpl Yanagi flying a 3rd Chutai/204 Sentai Ki-43II, went down, possibly near Pekon Lake, Burma.

Breakthrough Victory
In this combat scene, Fl.Lt Alan M Peart DFC, 81 Squadron RAF, is flying his Spitfire Mk.Vc, FL-D, over Bone Harbour, Algeria December 1st 1942. Alan followed a SM-84 into the clouds until it drifted into view where Alan promptly shot it down thus claiming the first of his six aerial victories.

Used extensively during WWII, this SAAF Sunderland MkV, of 35 Sqdn is taking off from a stormy Langebaan Lagoon, North of Cape Town, South Africa, 1950. This canvas was painted in my looser style, which suits the subject well.

Grumman Goose
This Grumman G-21A Goose was adopted by the US Coast Guard during World War II, it served in the transport, reconnaissance, rescue and training roles throughout the war. The G.21 was also used for air-sea rescue duties by the Royal Air Force (RAF).

C-53 South Pacific
QANTAS Douglas C-47/C-53, VH-CWA wears USAAF livery, loaned/bought by Qantas in 1944 then seconded by the RAAF for courier runs to PNG. Flying over the treacherous Owen Stanley Mountain range, Northern PNG, VH-CWA/W0070 heads for Hollandia, 1945.

Foster's Victory
P/O Bob Foster in Hawker Hurricane R4118, UP-W of 605 Sqdn. On 28 September and 8 October 1940, Foster shot down two Ju-88s (possibly shared victories) over Beachy Head.

For Norway
A flight of four No.331 Sqdn (Norwegian) Squadron Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXs led by PL258 head towards occupied Europe during a fighter sweep mission, June 1944. No. 331 Squadron RAF was a Second World War squadron of the Royal Air Force. The squadron was primarily manned with Norwegian aircrew. The squadron was part of Fighter Command between 1941 and March 1944 when it joined the 2nd Tactical Air Force until the end of the war. The squadron took part in the Dieppe Raid and the Normandy landings. The 331 Squadron aircraft were given the RAF aircraft code prefix "FN", which was often said to be an abbreviation for "First Norwegian" or "For Norway", the latter being the squadron's official motto (in Norwegian For Norge). The squadron badge was a Norwegian Viking sword and a British sword in saltire, bound together with a ring — symbolising the friendship between Norway and Great Britain.

Hounding the Hunter - Erich Hartmann Vs. USAAF 15th Air Force (31FG)
In this intense scene, Erich Hartmann in his Messerschmitt 109 G-6 is over Romania, which ended with him being chased by 4-8 Mustangs. He had run out of ammunition and after an extended twisting chase, ran out of fuel too. Seconds later, the German pilot was unable to outrun the P51’s and bailed out when he was likely to be shot down."

The beautiful lines of the B7A2 'Grace' are seen in the striking view. Four of these late war Japanese torpedo bombers were intercepted by FAA Hellcats on 25 July, 1945. This was the Hellcat's final combat in British service.
